Exhaust Coating, Ciloxide All Black

CILOXIDE SERIES ALL BLACK:

ACTIVATOR SOLD SEPARATELY

Activator sold here: ACT

Ciloxide is a family of ceramic coatings capable of providing extremely high levels of thermal protection in very thin films. It is designed to be applied primarily to exhaust system components and other parts subject to high temperature and movement/flexing. When properly applied, Ciloxide will withstand substrate temperatures of over 2000F. In addition, the direct flame will not cause delamination as long as substrate temperatures do not exceed 2000F. Ciloxide will handle environmental temperatures of up to 2000F. Due to its unique ceramic nature, it also functions as a very effective thermal barrier with reduced thermal radiation characteristics. Ciloxide dries to the touch after approximately one hour and partially cures at 400F for one hour with the use of Activator (ACT). The coating cures to a very hard surface with excellent adhesion, lubrication, and release properties.

Exhaust component coating with excellent corrosion and chemical resistance.

Thermal barrier/heat management

Reduces part temperature. Protective to above 2000F.

    Very thin film application

    • .001_ to .0015_
    • May be applied over MCS or HHBK to withstand high substrate temperature or to increase thermal barrier functions.

    Solvent based

    • Oven curing recommended. For full cure, the part will have to see 750F for one hour.
    • Easy cleanup with Acetone or similar.

    APPLICATION:

    • Sandblast all parts 10X EpiX Blasting Media MP 70/100 Grit (EPIX), or 120 grit aluminum oxide. DO NOT USE GLASSBEAD.
    • Clean metal using conventional cleaning methods, with acetone, lacquer thinner or other similar non-petroleum based solvent.
    • When the surface is clean and dry, apply a thin even layer of coating using an airbrush, detail touch-up gun such as Columbia Coatings Ceramic Application Gun (CCAG2) or equivalent system that allows for application of a thin film build of approximately .001 to .0015.
    • Avoid excessive build-up of material as this can lead to loss of adhesion. DO NOT APPLY A SECOND COAT AFTER THE COATING DRIES.
    • The coating will air dry to the touch in a few minutes.

You can do a Partial Cure at 500F degrees. Lower Partial Cure Temperature if Activator (ACT) is added. (Sold Separately). Allowing you to cure the coating the rest of the way on the vehicle. The coating will cure with exhaust heat, 750F for one hour.

CAUTION: Excessive exhaust heat due to a poorly tuned engine can damage the coating during the cure period. Do not install on a new engine until all adjustments have been made to the valves, timing and jetting. Allow the engine to idle, or drive gently for approximately 30 minutes or until no vapor/smoke is given off by the coating. Maintain adequate ventilation during this process.
