Exhaust Coating, Turbo X Black

TURBO X

Turbo X is a silicone ceramic coating designed to be applied primarily to exhaust components. When applied to exhaust systems, Turbo X will remain color stable at exhaust gas temperatures up to 2000F. Due to its unique ceramic nature, the coating also functions as a very effective thermal barrier, with reduced thermal radiation characteristics. The coating cures to a very hard, durable surface with excellent adhesion. Turbo X is designed to be cured in an industrial oven. Corrosion and chemical resistance is only achieved after the coating reaches a full cure.

  • Extreme temperature exhaust component coating designed especially for turbos.
    • Reduces temperature under the hood and on the exhaust manifold surface.
  • Improves exhaust gas velocity, resulting in horsepower increase.
  • Designed for single coat coverage. Dry film thickness of .001_ to .0015_.
    • Can be applied over a base primer coating such as PrevCor, MCS or HHBK.
  • Solvent based.
    • Recommend full cure at 600F for one hour.
    • Oven baking recommended.
    • Easy cleanup with Acetone or similar.
  • Available in Satin Black (Part #TXBK) and Blue (Part #TXBL).

APPLICATION: Sandblast all parts with 10X EpiX Blasting Media MP 70/100 Grit (EPIX), or 120 grit aluminum oxide. DO NOT USE GLASSBEAD. Clean metal using conventional cleaning methods, with acetone, lacquer thinner or other similar non-petroleum based solvent. When the surface is clean and dry, apply a thin even layer of coating using an airbrush, detail touch-up gun such as Columbia Coatings Ceramic Application Gun (CCAG2) or equivalent system that allows for application of a thin film build of approximately .001 to .0015. Avoid excessive build-up of material as this can lead to loss of adhesion. DO NOT APPLY A SECOND COAT AFTER THE COATING DRIES. The coating will air dry to the touch in a few minutes. Install on vehicle, as the coating will cure with exhaust heat.

CAUTION: Excessive exhaust heat due to a poorly tuned engine can damage the coating during the cure period. Do not install on a new engine until all adjustments have been made to the valves, timing and jetting. Allow the engine to idle, or drive gently for approximately 30 minutes or until no vapor/smoke is given off by the coating. MAINTAIN adequate ventilation during this process.
